Ibborium Campaign - Making a Deal
The door closes quietly behind him as the ranger pulls down his hood, glancing around the expansive and ornate foyer of the mansion while the servant vanished off down one of the halls to do something more pressing than tending to him. Whatever it was didn't matter to him. The only thing that mattered and drew him here was seeing if the owner of the estate was in fact home. Hopefully the man was otherwise the journey to Fossa had been for nothing even if he could play it off as a visit to the Shadowsmiths and Ikaheka's Mark posted about the city.
Shedding his weapons onto one of the tables in the hall, he slowly made his way through the lower floor and checking over every room to see for any sign of his quarry. So far there wasn't much to be had. None of the fires were currently going. Servants moving about to tend to the various rooms and make sure that they stayed in proper condition.
He probably missed him. The man might as well be deep within the nine hells and having only left hours before which means he wouldn't be back for days. That was the worst case scenario.
A quick check in with a servant revealed that it had been almost a week since he had vanished though. Which means that he could be due back at any time. With that in mind, Matthieu takes his time heading upstairs and stepping into the vast library that the man had acquired over the years. It was the best place if any to spend time in and see if he returns sooner or later.
Thumbing over the book spines, he finds one that he hasn't read yet and plops down onto one of the fine leather chairs near a window. He didn't necessarily feel up to striking up a fire so the sun streaming in would do rather nicely instead. Looking over the gardens outside, he takes a moment in thought before flipping open the book and starting to read. It seems to be one of the local legends and their relevance to history which was always handy to know.
Hopefully he wouldn't get to far into the book before something or someone pops back up. Though that was wishful thinking really.
